The official date of issuance is September 1, 2020. According to the law, all taxpayers have 2 months after the date of issue to file the personal income tax return. The last day to file the 2019 personal income tax return is November 2, 2020.
Besides the legal period of two months, the Aruba Tax Department is granting an extra month to file the 2019 personal income tax return. The final date to file the 2019 personal income tax return is December 2, 2020. No official request for an extension has to be filed.
The Aruba Tax Department advises to start collecting all necessary documents related to the income and cost of 2019, for example: annual salary, pension, income related to the renting of property, income related to side-jobs, bank (mortgage) interest letter and/or (mortgage) interest letter from other institutions, life insurance, proof of donations made, proof of cost made related to the studies of children studying abroad, etc.
Clients with sole proprietorship will also have to prepare their 2019 financial statements. In case the client is not able to prepare the financial statements, it is recommended to look for an advisor.
Preparation and filing of the personal income tax return is a legal obligation. When preparing and filing the return on time, the client avoids receiving an (estimated) assessment including penalties.
Moreover, when filing the personal income tax return the client has the opportunity to make use of his right to deduct costs made.
